Requested Character: Deathstrike/Yuriko Oyama
Character Journal: [personal profile] deathstrike (Private journal)
Characters Age: Looks to be in her mid twenties
Hero or Villain: Villain
Series of Origin: X-men; X2
Universe of Origin: Marvel (Live Action movies)
Personality: Cold and calculating are the best terms to describe this woman. Even before her capture, abuse, and manipulation at the hands of William Stryker; Yuriko was not a kind or forgiving woman. She does not speak of her past (and is in fact a woman of few words most of the time) so whatever happened to her to make her the person she is today may never be revealed. Perhaps nothing at all happened and she is just one of those born with murder in their hearts. Whatever the cause though the results are clear for all to see. This woman's trust is hard won and friendship is not likely to involve anything more substantial than a person proving themselves useful to her for a variable amount of time. As for loyalty well; best not to consider that too much.

Background: Canon Background
Sexuality: Presumed Heterosexual (character hasn't had any romantic encounters as yet)
Powers and/or Special Skills:
Retractable Claws: Yuriko has long adamantium fingernails that can be retracted at any time. When the Adamantium bonding proceedure was performed on her; Yuriko's claws were artificially extended much longer than their original state (What follows next is headcanon to fill in for lack of canon information). Without the extra admantium her claws (while still long by human standards) are much shorter and retract more naturally; like a cats claws. She also has similar retractable claws on each of her toes, though these were not artificially extended like those on her fingers. (headcanon addition ends here)

Regenerative Healing Factor: Like Wolverine, Yuriko's primary mutant power is an accelerated healing process that enables her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. She can regenerate greatly damaged or destroyed tissue within a few seconds. This accelerated healing power is commonly referred to as the mutant healing factor. The full extent and speed of Yuriko's healing factor isn't known. She has been shown to fully heal from numerous wounds within a matter of seconds. And having survived the Adamantium Bonding Process we can infer that skin, muscles, and internal organs can and will fully regenerate within minutes. Adamantium plays a crucial role in healing speed as well because of the fact that it produces a poison that the immune system fights off regularly. It is possible that without the adamantium, her healing rate would increase just as Wolverine's does. This power may even amend psychological wounds inflicted as a result of traumatic experiences. However, this may result in her mind attempting to suppress the memories, resulting in amnesia. Her factor may in fact be stronger than Wolverines, as she was revealed to still be alive after being pumped full of Adamantium and left under a frozen block of ice by Wolverine at Alkalai lake.

Foreign Chemical Immunity: Yuriko's natural healing also affords her virtual immunity to all poisons and most drugs, except in massive doses. For example, it is extremely difficult for her to become intoxicated from alcohol.

Immunity To Disease: Yuriko's highly efficient immune system, which is part of her accelerated healing factor, renders her immune against all known Earthly diseases and infections.

Superhuman Strength: Yuriko's mutant healing factor enables her to push her muscles beyond the natural limits of the human body without injury, granting her some degree of superhuman strength. Her natural strength is augmented by the demand placed on her musculature due to the presence of the Adamantium bonded to her skeleton, which also removes the natural limitations of the human skeletal structure by allowing her to lift weights that would damage a normal humans skeleton. In her battle with Wolverine she was able to throw him against a concrete wall, causing substantial damage to the wall.

Superhuman Stamina: Yuriko's mutant healing factor grants her high immunity against lactic acid and other fatigue toxins generated by her muscles during physical activity. Yuriko can sustain herself at peak capacity for several days. Her lung capacity is at peak human level enabling her to hold her breath for 6 minutes under water, making her lungs as healthy as human's lungs can get.

Superhuman Agility: Yuriko's agility, balance and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels far beyond the natural physical limits and capabilities of the finest human specimen. Yuriko's agility is sufficient to allow her to dodge multiple bullets or jump extremely high and evade several yards.

Superhuman Reflexes: Yuriko's reflexes are similarly enhanced, they are also superior to those possessed by the finest human specimen and are equal to the likes of Steve Rogers' (Captain America).

Insulated Weather Adaptation: Yuriko's body is highly resistant to certain elemental extremes, particularly cold, to the extent that she can potentially sleep nude in subarctic conditions with no apparent injury.

Delayed Aging: Yuriko's healing factor provides her with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process. Because of this Yuriko's true age is unknown and like Wolverine she could be well over 100 years of age while retaining the health, appearance and physical vitality of a woman in the physical prime of her life.

Adamantium Laced Skeleton: Not part of Yuriko's natural mutant attributes, her entire skeleton is laced with the rare, artificial, and virtually indestructible alloy known as adamantium or True Adamantium. As a result, Yuriko's bones are virtually unbreakable. Aside from being practically indestructible, her claws are capable of cutting any solid material, with the known exception of True Adamantium and Vibranium (Captain America's Shield). However, Yuriko's ability to slice completely through a substance depends upon the thickness of the substance and the amount of force she can exert. The Adamantium also weights her blows, dramatically increasing the effectiveness of her punches and kicks.

Adamantium Beta: The only known occurrence of Adamantium Beta was during the Weapon X Project. Because Yuriko went through the same process the assumption can be made that she has the same type of Adamantium bonded to her skeleton. By the second part of the procedure when they laced her bones with Adamantium there was likely a similar reaction with her healing factor that bonded metal and bone. As a result the Adamantium "heals" just as her bones do.

Skilled Acrobat: She is skilled in gymnastics, acrobatics and aerials, but whether she is on the same scale as other fighters such as Captain America and Daredevil is unknown.

Advanced Covert Ops Expert: Due to her experience traveling the world and working for Hydra, Yuriko is a trained expert in multiple types of weapons, vehicles, computer systems, explosives, and assassination techniques.

Master Martial Artist: Due to her extensive training under the Silver Samurai, and then as a Hydra Agent; Yuriko is an exceptional martial artist and has mastered many areas of combat including hand-to-hand and various weapons.

Current Location: Alkalai Lake
Anything else we should know? She appears as a Boss in the X-Men game based on the third movie, showing that she survived the lethal overdose of adamantium injected in her body and in the official novelization of the film, a reference is made to her survival in the facility in which she appeared to die in X2, immobilized from the effects of the adamantium injection but alive. Also X-Men: The Official Game revealed that Deathstrike had survived the overdose. She proceeds to battle Wolverine two times in the game. She is also revealed to be an agent of Hydra and a student of Silver Samurai. She was sent to spy on Stryker, but instead was brainwashed into becoming his bodyguard. Deathstrike's final battle with Wolverine ended when she was crushed under rubble, killing her, apparently.

Since I personally haven't played any of the games I'll be taking her right from the end of X2. That is; still at the lake trapped underground. I will be keeping her former employment with Hydra and training under Silver Samurai in tact however since they are pre-movie backstory (and she needs as much of that as she can get).

Also; the entry for her is very small, so many of the abilities associated with the Healing Factor were taken from Wolverines entry and applied to her as necessary.
